Loose Women's Denise Welch left in tears as she relives son's worrying health condition

Denise Welch has admitted to 'having a few tears' after finding an old video of herself and son Louis, not long after her youngest child had surgery, having been born with born with a worrying health condition.

As she returned to the Loose Women panel this week, Geordie star Denise took to Instagram to tell her many followers that she'd be taking a delve into the archives, having just got her hands on a VHS player. And the clip that made her most emotional was one of her and a very young Louis, joining North East broadcasting legend Mike Neville on local news channel Tyne Tees back in 2002.

Denise revealed that their appearance on the show came not long after Louis had been in surgery, following a diagnosis with Hirschsprung Disease as a baby. The condition affects one in every 5,000 babies and is a rare disorder of the bowel, most commonly the colon, which can lead to severe constipation and intestinal obstruction.

Captoning the clip of her and Louis from 21 years ago, Denise wrote: "Blimey!!! Just got a VHS player so prepare for 97,000 old clips!!!This was on Tyne Tees news in 2002 with the legendary Mike Neville. Louis @healytymd had just had surgery as he was born with Hirschsprung Disease. @alderhey_inspired and @rmchcharity were absolutely amazing. Shed a few tears watching this."

Denise speaking about Louis' Hirschsprung Disease sparked a wave of comments from others who could relate, with one follower telling her: "My son is currently in Alder hey with hirchsprung disease and is 6 days old today. They’ve just fitted a temporary stoma bag on him so praying we will be out in another week"

Her North East followers delighted at seeing late host Mike, who died in 2017 at the age of 80, while another asked: "Was Louis cured as a child ( like most ) from hirshsprung disease? My friend had 2 ops and still suffers badly as an adult," to which Denise replied that Louis was 'thankfully okay.'

Louis was actually a talking point on Thursday's Loose Women when Denise was reminded that the young actor, now 22, had starred alongside her colleague, Sunetra Sarker in Ackley Bridge.
