An incident on the M1 has caused more than three miles of congestion to build. The incident was first reported at 2.08pm.
National Highways had reported that traffic was being held between junction 22 and junction 23 northbound. At 2.38pm, traffic was released.
However, during that time, queues have been building. According to National Highways there were more than three and a half miles of queues.

Natioanl Highways East Midlands tweeted: "Traffic has now been released on the #M1 northbound in #Leicestershire between J22 (for #Leicester ) and J23 ( #Loughborough ). 1 lane (of 3) remains closed at this time. There's a 20 minute delay on approach with 3.5 miles of congestion."
Inrix traffic monitoring system said at 3.13pm: "One lane closed and heavy traffic due to accident on M1 Northbound from J22 A50 ( Coalville / Ashby-de-la-zouch ) to J23 A512 Ashby Road East ( Loughborough ). Congestion to Traffic building on opposite side due to onlookers."
