A major bridge in Nottinghamshire will remain closed 'until further notice' after a lorry crashed off it. At around 8.50am on Monday (July 4) morning, emergency services were called after reports a lorry had fallen down the embankment off Lady Bay Bridge.
Nottinghamshire Police closed the bridge in both directions, and the A6011 remains closed between its junction with Meadow Lane and it's junction with A6520 Radcliffe Road and Trent Boulevard. There is congestion on Meadow Lane, County Road and London Road at present, and this is expected to build as rush hour approaches.
After police shut the road, a large emergency service presence was later established near to the incident. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed one man was injured in the crash, whose condition was later stated by Nottinghamshire Police not be life threatening or altering.

Nottingham City Council issued an update to say the road is closed "until further notice". Emergency services remain at the scene.
A joint statement from the City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council said: "Lady Bay Bridge is currently closed to traffic after a lorry left the road. We are working in partnership to get the bridge open as soon as possible for motorists and pedestrians, however in the interests of safety, we will be unable to reopen the bridge on Monday evening.
"Lady Bay Bridge is also expected to remain closed on Tuesday (July 5) and so we are advising motorists to plan alternative routes using Trent Bridge, Clifton Bridge or Gunthorpe Bridge. Please keep in mind that these routes are likely to be busier due to the disruption on Lady Bay Bridge.
"We will keep you updated on when the bridge will be reopen and thank you for your patience while we work to keep you safe."
Those nearby were shocked as the situation unfolded. Will Stewart, 57, a welder at Global Security was sat in his car waiting to go to work when he heard the lorry hit the wall. He said: "I was sat waiting for work to open and then I heard the screeching, looked behind me and saw the wall collapsing.
"The lorry flipped onto its drivers side. I tried to get over the fence to help but I couldn’t. I was just underneath it all."
Martin Camm, 54, who is frequently on the industrial estate the lorry landed next to, said: "I heard the big bang and that was all I knew.
"It's quite a shock for people that work around here. There's a lot of damage to the bridge."
A local, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It's a lot of damage. It's a shocking thing to see when you're walking about. I hope everything turns out alright."
Shortly after the crash, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.51am today to a report of a lorry leaving the carriageway at Lady Bay Bridge in West Bridgford and crashing down an embankment. The bridge is closed while emergency services deal with the incident. Motorists are asked to find an alternative route."
Local business Vale Skips confirmed they owned the lorry, but said they were not able to speak at this time about the incident.
