Lidl shopper left gobsmacked after discovering mysterious coded message in their breakfast

A Lidl shopper was left gobsmacked after discovering a bizarre secret coded message mixed in with the contents of their breakfast. The customer was tucking into their fruit and yoghurt when they came across the code 'ABS' etched onto one of the blueberries, the Mirror reports.

With no obvious explanation as to what the letters could mean, the Irish customer was left baffled and took to Reddit to seek answers behind the mysterious message. Desperate to crack the code, the anonymous author asked others if they had any ideas what the potential meaning was behind their discovery.

In a post, they wrote: "Found this code (ABS) on a blueberry from Lidl. What is it?" One person who believes they solved the mystery told the Redditor that there was a simple explanation behind the letters.

Somebody else explained that a laser would have made the code on the blueberry (Reddit)

They said that the boxes are laser printed with a code and the laser must have gone through a little hole onto the blueberry instead of the box. They added: "It's done with air compression or something so it's delicate. CO2 etching seems to be gentle enough to not harm the surface of the blueberry. So I've learned something new! Hope you have too."

Someone else joked: "Ah so it's not the blueberries rock hard abs". Another replied: "So much for my imaginary utopia with technologically advanced blueberries...Still, kinda cool that they can etch engravings on them though."

A fascinated foodie commented: "This is interesting" while a fitness fan remarked: "What you get if you eat healthy!"

One witty Redditor replied saying: "Antilock brake system. Not entirely sure why you'd need it on a blueberry though. Maybe to stop them rolling off your spoon?"

Other users made their own jokes about what the acronym could stand for including 'Automatic Berry System', 'Anti Blackberry Society' and 'Another Berry Scanned'.
