Argentinian police are currently looking into the whereabouts of Liam Payne‘s $60,000 Rolex watch following his death, local news reports.
According to the daily newspaper La Nacion, the singer’s timepiece has not been found during the raids of any of the men who are currently suspects in the criminal investigation into the One Direction star’s passing.
During the next 72 hours, authorities will do another sweep of the deluxe suite at the Casa Sur Hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aries where Payne was staying in just in case it was missed during the preliminary searches.
La Nacion also reported that police searched the homes of two female escorts who Payne spent time with before he died. However, this search returned nothing.
CCTV footage shows Payne was wearing the watch on the day of his death, October 16.
“We know from images that have been analysed that Liam had the watch on the day of his death,” a source who is involved in the prosecution case told La Nacion.
“He had it in one of his hands and he had it at least two to three hours before his fatal hotel fall. We looked for it in his hotel room and couldn’t find it.”
The source confirmed that police searched the homes of the people being investigated, along with the two female escorts.
“The room is still sealed off by court order and no one can enter,” the source continued.
“Searching for the watch in the homes of the people Liam had contact with before his death was the initial priority but now another inspection will take place to see if it remains somewhere in his room.”
Liam Payne died on October 16 after falling from a third-storey balcony of the Casa Sur hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aries. Three people have been charged in connection to his death for allegedly supplying the singer with drugs which were found in his system after the fact.
