Lewis Capaldi postpones remaining European tour dates due to bronchitis and says he's 'gutted'

Lewis Capaldi has postponed all remaining dates on his ongoing European tour, telling fans he's "f***ing gutted" to be doing so. Taking to Twitter, the Scots singer said he'd been diagnosed with bronchitis earlier this week after losing his voice whilst performing at his concert in Stockholm.

He was sent home to Glasgow to recover and rescheduled his shows in Zurich and Milan - but has now announced that the rest of his tour dates scheduled to take place in Spain and Germany won't be going ahead as planned. The crooner has promised to rearrange his postponed shows.

The Someone You Loved singer said he'd been given some medication to try and nip his bronchitis in the bud so that he could get back on the road. And while he says he feels a "bit better", he was carrying out his soundcheck in Barcelona this evening when his voice "gave in" and was advised by a doctor not to perform.

In a video posted to Twitter, he told fans how sorry he was, saying: "Unfortunately we're going to have to reschedule the remaining shows on my European tour - that means Barcelona tonight, Madrid tomorrow, and Stuttgart and Munich next week."

He explained how he was sent home to Glasgow after being diagnosed with bronchitis on Monday, March 6, and postponed his shows in Zurich and Milan.

Lewis continued: "I went to another doctor in Glasgow and got medication and inhalers to try and help with the bronchitis, and I do feel a bit better, and I thought I was going to be ready for the show so I've flown out to Barcelona, I'm backstage just now.

"During soundcheck, my voice was just giving in. So unfortunately, to prevent further damage, I've spoke with a doctor here and I'm going to have to just take a week to let this die down and heal properly rather than doing any permanent damage to my voice."

He apologised for having to cancel the gigs, "especially tonight in Barcelona since it's so close to the show", and said he wanted to give the update himself "so you know it's coming from me and not someone on management."

The singer concluded: "I'm so, so f***ing sorry and hopefully I'll see you all very soon. Again, very sorry, we'll get the rescheduled dates sorted as soon as possible."

Fans were quick to respond with messages of support for the singer, with one saying; "Your health is the most important thing, look after yourself & hope you feel better soon." Another said: "Feel better soon we understand."
