Large Traffic Jams As People Flee Lebanon Towns For Beirut

Reports from Lebanon indicate a mass exodus of people from towns across the country to the capital, Beirut. A video shared with journalists captured the scene of large queues of traffic as residents flee their homes.

One individual who was leaving Sidon, a coastal city located south of Beirut, described the situation as unprecedented, stating that they had never witnessed such a high volume of traffic exiting the town. The army was reportedly instructing civilians to clear the streets, adding to the chaos of the situation.

Google Maps data further illustrated the severity of the situation, showing significant delays along major roads leading from the southern regions to the northern parts of the country. The congestion was particularly notable around 1 p.m. local time, indicating a widespread movement of people towards Beirut.
