Cincinnati Bengals right tackle La’el Collins didn’t mince a single word when asked about last weekend’s matchup with New Orleans Saints pass-rusher Cam Jordan.
While calm and collected as he delivered the verbal zing, Collins didn’t hold back on how he felt, as captured by CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia: “I think it was a tougher matchup for him versus me. If you watch the tape, every time I played him, “I beat his a** up. That’s just the bottom line. It’s gonna be like that anytime I play him.”
No word on the extensive background there, but it’s true Collins put on his best game of the season against the Saints.
That Collins has only been on an upswing since the start of the season certainly didn’t shock offensive line coach Frank Pollack.
Collins missed most of training camp while fighting a back issue and when asked about it during the exchange about Jordan, he shrugged it off. The problem likely remains, but the performance on the field and talk off it certainly suggests the Bengals are now getting the much-hyped right tackle they bought into this offseason.
