The University Grants Commission (UGC)–Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), functioning under the University of Kerala, has retained the top position among HRDCs in the country for the 15 th year on the trot.
The centre was adjudged the best on the basis of a review of performances of 66 HRDCs during the period from 2015 to 2019 by the standing committee tasked with monitoring the UGC-run institutes at a meeting in New Delhi.

According to UGC-HRDC professor-director in-charge K.M. Sajad Ibrahim, the Karyavattom-based centre could maintain its standing by ensuring quality and active participation of teachers. It received the highest grade of 4.52 by securing a score of 452 for quantitative and qualitative parameters to be bracketed among the ‘high performers’.
Refresher course
Formerly known as Academic Staff College, the centre had three years ago been notified a National Resource Centre (NRC) by the Ministry of Education (then known the Ministry of Human Resource Development) for online refresher courses for teachers in Commerce.
