Kirkcudbright Academy hosts Rotary Young Chemist of the Year competition

The Rotary Young Chemist of the Year competition took place at the Kirkcudbright Academy recently.

Nine S3 competitors took part. They were asked to find out the vitamin C content in an orange juice and analyse some urine samples.

The winners were: 1 Obi Clear, 2 Django Spyer Grubb, 3 Robin McClure.

Django Spyer Grubb said: “It was a fun and challenging experience.

“It required us to utilise a lot of chemistry skills that we have learnt throughout the past two to three years.

“It was a very friendly competition and I would recommend taking
part to anyone who enjoys
chemistry.”
