Kilt-wearing Ben Shephard accidentally exposes privates to horrified Ade Edmondson

Ben Shephard accidentally exposed his privates to horrified Ade Edmonson on today's Good Morning Britain.

The GMB presenter was wearing a traditional Scottish kilt to surprise Lorraine Kelly for her 60th birthday.

Smirking Ben said: "I'm always keen to celebrate anyone's birthday. I have a hand in it. I do have a little outfit for her. I don't want to ruin the surprise."

Because Lorraine was hidden away backstage to make sure she had no idea what was going on - Ben treated GMB viewers to his "birthday suit".

Ben came out wearing the kilt the authentic way to interview Ade, who confessed: "It's riding up quite shockingly."

Ben said: "It can shine as they say. This is the outfit. The birthday suit. I would only ever wear it in the authentic way."

Former EastEnders star Ade confirmed that Ben had no underwear on under his kilt.

Ben then caught a glimpse of himself on the monitor and pointed out he "did not have particularly attractive knees".

Ade replied: "You have small knees. Does that continue further up?"

Once the show had ended, Ben hot-footed it over to the Lorraine studio to surprise the birthday girl.

Ben revealed that he was taking over the show today - and Lorraine did not know what surprises were in store.

Ben said: "Your first surprise is, I’m taking over the show today. You have no scripts, no briefs. Nothing. Which, let me tell you, if you do host a live television show that’s the most terrifying thing in the world.

"It’s like being naked, or like wearing a kilt the traditional way. She’s got no idea what is in store!”

A nervous Lorraine, confessed: "It’s quite scary! I’m feeling quite emotional actually, I’ve no idea what’s going to happen."

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers played live music and there was a celebrity guest hiding in a massive cake.

She got a lovely surprise when her "favourite man" and "alternative husband" Chris Kamara jumped out.

When they went to sit down for a chat, Ben said: "I’m trying to sit side saddle here, Lorraine."
