Justin Simien set to direct Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet adaptation.

Filmmaker Justin Simien, known for his work on Dear White People and Haunted Mansion, is set to direct the adaptation of Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet, a science fiction crime thriller from Vault Comics. Collaborating with writer Christopher Yost and Confluential Films, the project brings together a talented team to bring this captivating story to life.

The comic, created by Paul Tobin and Arjuna Susini, is centered on the planet Heist, a haven for the galaxy's most notorious criminals. Protagonist Glane Breld and his crew aim to execute an audacious heist - stealing the entire planet itself.

Simien expressed his excitement for the project, highlighting the infusion of afro-futurism into the narrative. Yost, known for his work on Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, will pen the script, promising an engaging adaptation of the comic's thrilling storyline.

Confluential Films, led by Tommy Oliver, will produce the film alongside Wayne Horton, who initiated the project. The company, known for its diverse slate of productions, is expanding its reach into the realm of science fiction with this latest endeavor.

The collaboration between Simien, Yost, and the team at Confluential Films underscores a commitment to bringing fresh and innovative storytelling to the screen. With a track record of successful projects, including the acclaimed HBO documentary 40 Years a Prisoner, the team is poised to deliver another compelling cinematic experience with Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet.

Simien's involvement in the adaptation of Geiger and the Flashdance series reboot for Paramount further solidifies his position as a versatile filmmaker with a keen eye for captivating narratives. Yost's return to comics with Unnatural Order adds another layer of expertise to the project, ensuring a faithful and engaging translation of the source material.

Vault Comics, the originator of the Heist comic, continues to make waves in the industry with its unique and imaginative storytelling. The collaboration with Simien, Yost, and Confluential Films marks another milestone for the company, further establishing its presence in the world of film adaptations.
