Jada Pinkett Smith says her family are 'deep healing' after Will's Oscar slap

Jada Pinkett Smith says her family have turned to 'deep healing' after husband Will slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars last month.

The actress opened up about the incident ahead of her latest Red Table Talk.

A message that appeared ahead of the episode read: "Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing.

"Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared when the time calls.

"Until then … the table will continue offering itself to powerful, inspiring and healing testimonies like that of our incredibly impressive first guest.

"Thanks for joining us, Jada."

During the star-studded ceremony, 53-year-old Will leapt on stage and assaulted comedian Chris after he cracked a joke about Jada's shaved head.

Unseen footage of the Men in Black actor smacking Chris showed his wife's reaction.

The video was taken from an unknown location behind Will and Jada's front row table, and begins as Will returned from the stage following the violent altercation.

As the rest of the audience is stunned into silence following Will's angry outburst, The Matrix actress can be seen laughing.

She appears to lean forward and laugh as Chris responded to the assault, as he told the Hollywood A-listers watching: "Will Smith just smacked the sh*t out of me."

Jada continued to watch the comedian as husband Will sat back down in his seat, and laughed for a second time as Chris said it was "the greatest night in the history of television".

It's not know who captured the footage of Jada's reaction, or who subsequently shared the clip on social media.

Despite the potentially career-ending slap, Will is set to be "flooded with work offers" according to industry experts.

Well-versed showbiz professionals have claimed the I Am Legend star could be lured to the small screen for a comeback - and will have offers to appear in lesser budget action films.

Smith's future career and earnings lay in the hands of film studios as "pause for thought" over how to treat Smith moving forward.
