ITV's The Chase viewers stunned as Jenny Ryan knocks out all contestants before final round

Fans of ITV's The Chase were left stunned last night as all four contestants were knocked out before the final round.

A team made up of Michael, Lauren, Natalie and Blake faced Chaser Jenny Ryan, AKA The Vixen, but none managed to rise to her challenge.

Show makers were then forced to fill the final 15 minutes of the popular gameshow.

Natalie was the final person up against Jenny, who was putting in an outstanding performance, even for her.

Natalie was caught while trying to take home the medium offer of £8,000.

Host Bradley Walsh then explained how the final fifteen minutes of The Chase would be filled in the unusual circumstances.

Bradley told Natalie that she would return after the the commercial break with the rest of her team, but only one could take part in a rare lightning round, reports the Mirror.

He said: "And then there were none, but they do have one more chance to take home £1,000 each when a single player takes on the Chaser once again. Who will they choose?"

Several ITV viewers took to Twitter to express their shock at the turn of events on the show, with one fan savagely suggesting they were the "worst team ever".

One fan wrote: "TheChase Oh, another gripping and exciting episode then," while another wrote: "What is going on!! I've never seen this happen!?"

Ahh what a rare moment it is to see the contestants all wiped out" a fellow fan wrote, as another posted: "Wow first time I've ever seen no one get back on the chase"

After the ITV show returned from the break, the full team were back on screens, who chose Natalie to take the stand against The Vixen.

She got eight questions right in the final and afterwards admitted it had been a tricky feat on her own, as Bradley turned to Jenny to see if she could match the number in two minutes.

Jenny said: "I really feel for you Natalie. It's so tough on your own anyway, but to be representing the team, the nerves do get to you and that energy just dropped there didn't it?"

Jenny managed to catch Natalie and her team with a minute and 12 seconds to spare, blocking them from taking £1,000 each home.

Bradley turned to the team and said: "There you have it. I hope you have enjoyed yourselves. Sadly, I've got to take the £4,000 away and tell you The Chase is over."

He concluded: "That is probably the toughest job in quizdom to play for your other players against the Chaser."

The Chaser also weighed in at the end of the show to tell the team they had been "delightful", adding: "I'm kind of glad I got to see you all again, because once I catch contestants they're gone and out the studio, but I'm sorry you've not got a bigger smile on your face right now. It was a very tough show for all of us. Well done for toughing it out."
