Israel's security cabinet recently voted to add a new war objective to its conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah: ensuring the safe return of residents from communities along its border with Lebanon to their homes. This decision comes after nearly a year of cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands of people from their homes in southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
While the return of northern Israel residents has been a political necessity for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, it has now been officially designated as a war goal. Netanyahu emphasized the need for a fundamental change in the security situation along the border to facilitate the residents' return, stating that Israel is committed to taking necessary actions to achieve this objective.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant underscored that military action is deemed essential to enable the safe return of residents to their homes. The Israeli military has not yet provided any comments on the recent explosions that occurred on Tuesday.
