Many Leeds folk are saying they are finding traffic in the city centre more and more frustrating due to the amount of roadworks.
There are currently roadworks going on in Leeds city centre in preparation for City Square’s permanent closure to traffic in February 2023. Through traffic is being diverted away from the area and traffic travelling north into the city is in place along Neville Street, Bishopgate Street and Swinegate.
At the weekend, one man tweeted he had to abandon his car in Trinity car park after getting stuck for more than two hours in a queue to leave. In response to his story, some said they found it too stressful to drive into the city centre.

Leeds City Council is encouraging people to find alternative methods of transport such as bus or rail, cycling or walking into the city. They also recommended the park and ride scheme.
Some people have said they enjoy using the park and ride, but others have said it won't work for them in terms of getting into the city centre. Others have pointed out that traffic is often 'gridlocked' in the city centre, especially at peak times.
