Is Forza Horizon 5 coming to PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5?

However, it'll be a PS5-exclusive port, so PS4 players are being left behind. Forza Horizon 5's imminent PS5 arrival doesn't have a firm date yet, but we do know there will be full content parity and the entire suite of cross-platform features.
Forza Horizon 5 is one of the most successful and iconic first-party Xbox exclusives, with this expansive open-world "simul-arcade" racing game attracting tens of millions of unique players. When I reviewed Forza Horizon 5 in Nov. 2021, it seemed inconceivable that the Forza Horizon franchise would ever make the leap to competing console platforms, but times are changing alongside Xbox's multiplatform strategies.
Now, Microsoft is releasing more of its previously exclusive Xbox titles to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, and the lines for what's acceptable to port are blurring more every day. The Forza franchise has been Xbox-only since its inception in 2005, but that's set to end. Forza Horizon 5 is officially coming to PlayStation 5 at some point in the future.
The PS5 port for FH5 is the product of a partnership between Forza Horizon studio Playground Games and Panic Button, a studio well-known for porting AAA games to other platforms. With Xbox's intent to preserve its future through higher-margin endeavors and its newfound position as the world's biggest video games publisher, this move does make sense... Even if it'll inevitably frustrate hardcore Xbox fans.

Is Forza Horizon 5 releasing on PlayStation 4?
Best answer: No, Forza Horizon 5 will not be releasing on PS4. While the open-world racing game is available on Xbox One S|X and in theory would play fine on PlayStation 4, it doesn't make sense this far into the new console generation to back port. At least on the PlayStation side, FH5 will be exclusive to the current-gen PS5.

Will Forza Horizon 5 have all the same content on PlayStation?
Best answer: Yes, Forza Horizon 5 will have complete content and feature parity between Xbox, PlayStation, and Windows PC. That means the same Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Editions, the same Car Pass and Car Pack DLCs, the same Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure DLC expansions, and the same optional add-ons. Of course, that also means PlayStation players will benefit from the years of free updates FH5 has enjoyed, including all the vehicles added to the Forza Horizon 5 car list since launch. PlayStation players will be able to access all of the community-created content, too, such as tunes, liveries, and EventLab blueprints.
Will Forza Horizon 5 support cross-play and cross-save on PlayStation?
Best answer: Yes, Forza Horizon 5 will at least support complete cross-platform multiplayer across Xbox, Windows PC, and PlayStation. Playground Games has confirmed as much, and it's no surprise; cross-play has been a standard feature for most multiplayer titles, and especially for Xbox's multiplatform releases. PS5 players will be able to race through Mexico alongside the existing Xbox and Windows PC player base.
Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios haven't explicitly confirmed that cross-progression will be included as well, but there's no reason to believe it won't be. FH5 should behave similar to other multiplatform Xbox games, allowing you to access your Xbox cloud saves by signing in with your Microsoft Account. Unfortunately, this will likely only apply to your progress on Xbox consoles, Windows PC via the Microsoft Store, and PlayStation; the Steam version of FH5 still doesn't support Xbox cloud saves.
As a reminder, Forza Horizon 5 does support Xbox Play Anywhere. That means you can buy it once on Xbox or Windows PC via the Microsoft Store and own it on both platforms, complete with cross-play and cross-save support. This won't apply to the PlayStation version.
Is Forza Horizon 5 still getting updates?
Best answer: Technically, yes. The first Forza Horizon 5 update of 2025 clearly marks an intent to begin winding down support for FH5, as it mostly rehashes previous update content and only adds two new cars (as opposed to the minimum of four new cars in most previous updates). Playground Games also introduced a new feature that allows players to vote on one of two past Festival Playlists to return each month, meaning we aren't going to see any new Festival Playlists from here on out.
So, Forza Horizon 5 is nearing the end of its active support, an inevitable result of Playground Games turning its attention to the next entry in the franchise (and finishing development on the Fable remake). That being said, at least one new content update is in the works. Horizon Realms is an update that should drop alongside the PlayStation release, and will allow players to explore and enjoy curated collections of the community's favorite Evolving World features, past updates, and other surprises.
We'll likely learn more about the Horizon Realms update as we get close to FH5's PlayStation 5 launch. Until then, though, don't expect any major new additions for Forza Horizon 5.
How much will Forza Horizon 5 cost on PlayStation?
Best answer: We simply don't know yet. Forza Horizon 5 enjoys regular discounts on Xbox and Windows PC, so it's quite possible that the game will see a permanent price cut as it launches on PlayStation. On the other hand, years of post-launch support and a huge backlog of content may encourage Xbox to keep FH5's full retail pricing. We'll simply have to wait for preorders to open up.
Will Forza Horizon 5 have a physical PlayStation version?
Best answer: Similar to pricing, we simply don't know yet. Xbox has moved away from physical video games alongside most of the industry, but there have been exceptions. Grounded got a physical game release alongside its PlayStation release, so it's within the realm of possibility that Forza Horizon 5 will do the same. If it does happen, though, it'll likely be a limited run for physical collectors.
