An Irish shopper was left stunned after picking up her entire shop for free in Marks and Spencer thanks to a little known offer.
The Irish Mirror reader was in the M&S store in Dublin city centre earlier this month when she scanned her app at the till after picking up some bits for an upcoming holiday.
She said: "The shopping was coming to about €70, I said I'd use the app just to see if there was any discounts on it or in case I'd build up any loyalty points.
"Then the woman at the till looked a bit confused and said 'it looks like it's free'.
"She had a quick check with her colleague and said it wasn't a mistake and that some people get randomly selected for a free shop on the app.
"I couldn't believe it, I don't think the lady at the till had ever seen it either, I'm raging I didn't get more stuff now, but it's still €70 saved."
The new offer is part of the Sparks reward system which is in place to entice shoppers to download the app - one customer per shop gets the reward each week.
M&S states on its website: "Every time you scan your Sparks reward card online or in store you get the chance to get the shopping you are buying for free, right there and then. Every week in every store, a customer will be treated to everything in their shopping basket, on us.
"Sparks is our customer reward scheme. Sparks gives you the chance to receive little treats and thank yous, get your shopping for free and we'll make a donation to your chosen Sparks charity every time you shop."
You won't know if you're getting a free shop until you reach the till or online checkout however so won't be able to pre-plan picking up plenty before cashing in.
