Ireland weather: Met Eireann issue positive weekend update as long spell of 'boring' conditions due to arrive

After temperatures plummeted to as low as -2C overnight, people across Ireland will be delighted with a bit of normality over the next few days weather wise.

Met Eireann have issued their latest forecast for the weekend and the beginning of next week - and one expert has said it just looks a bit 'boring' as conditions will remain steady.

The good news is that those conditions are mainly dry and sunny as we head towards February.

A Met Eireann spokesperson explained that Thursday will see "frost clear to leave a mostly dry day with good sunny spells. Cloud will gradually spread from the northwest through the day with the odd spot of drizzle following, and with the best of the remaining sunshine across the southern half of the country"

Things will get nippy this evening when the sun goes down, with temperatures again falling to -2C in parts.

The spokesperson continued: "Friday will be largely dry with mist and fog clearing through the morning. There will be a good deal of cloud over much of the country with just some patchy drizzle at times on western and northwestern coasts. The best of any sunny spells will be in along southern parts"

"Saturday will continue largely dry albeit cloudy with patches of drizzle along Atlantic coasts. The best of any sunny spells will be in the southeast. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly breezes."

And you guessed it, Sunday is looking similar too, with the current update saying that it will be "another dry and cloudy day for most just occasional bright spells developing but with some patchy drizzle occurring on Atlantic and southern coastal areas. "

All this has lead weather expert Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather to describe it as a 'boring' few days.

We'll take that 'boring' weather if it means we stay nice and dry!
