Ireland is in for a stunning week of sunshine and high temperatures as Met Eireann predicts summer weather to peak today.
Some areas across the country will see temperatures hit highs of 26C while the whole country enjoys a rain-free Monday.
Showers will arrive from midweek for some counties, but they’ll be short-lived and followed by some glorious conditions that are expected to extend right into the weekend.
As for Monday, mist, fog, and low clouds will clear this morning to leave a largely dry day with spells of hazy sunshine.
Cloud will thicken across the west and north during the day bringing light and patchy rain to the northwest in the evening.
Maximum temperatures will range from 22 to 26 degrees with moderate southerly breezes, turning fresh along Atlantic coasts.
Tuesday will start mostly cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle gradually clearing eastwards into the Irish Sea.
However, brighter conditions are expected as the day goes on with just isolated showers then extending from the west during the afternoon and evening.
Maximum temperatures will remain in the 20’s, more generally ranging from 19 and 23 degrees in moderate westerly breezes.
On Wednesday, there will be a few showers in Connacht and Ulster along with sunny spells.
The best of the sunshine is expected across Leinster and Munster, where it will be largely dry with long spells of sunshine.
Top temperatures will range from 17 to 23 degrees and will be warmest in the southeast.
Thursday will be generally dry early in the morning with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.
However, it looks set to become mostly cloudy later in the day with patchy rain affecting parts of the west and north.
Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees are expected in a moderate westerly breeze.
Patchy rain will affect parts of Ulster on Thursday night, but elsewhere, it looks set to be mainly dry with some clear spells.
Heading into the weekend on Friday, there will be a good deal of cloud about with the chance of some light showers or drizzle in parts of the west and north.
The best chance of sunshine will be in the east and south with highest temperatures ranging from 19 to 24 degrees - warmest in the east of the country in a moderate southwest breeze.
The forecast for next weekend has yet to be published, however, Met Eireann says: “Current indications suggest the weekend will bring plenty of dry and warm weather. However, there is the chance of some rain or showers in parts of the west and northwest.”
