Inside this week's London Standard: Restaurants of the Year - (The London Standard)

This has been a great year for new restaurants in London, and while I don’t want to contradict our critic, David Ellis, I obviously have my own favourites.

My top six have already become staples of the capital. At the start of the year, former Soho House bigwig Martin Kuczmarski opened The Dover, a snug, sexy New York-style place that looks as though it would have been popular with the cast of The Sopranos if the show had been set in Mayfair rather than New Jersey.

Next up was the successful reboot of Julie’s in Holland Park, and the opening of Canton Blue at the Peninsula and abc kitchens at the Emory before Jason Atherton opened his completely brilliant Sael in St James’s Market. He managed to turn an already beautiful room into a feelgood centre of gastronomy.

Finally, my new favourite local restaurant has to be The Park, Jeremy King’s ocean-liner diner at the very top of Queensway. It is also the only restaurant that I know of in London with only one bad table. If you haven’t yet visited, where have you been?
