Infants In Gaza Facing Acute Hunger Crisis

Palestinians gather to receive free food in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip

The World Health Organization has issued a grim warning about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, with a growing number of infants facing acute hunger and being on the brink of death. International entities and aid organizations are mobilizing to provide much-needed assistance to the enclave.

Saudi Arabia has pledged $40 million in funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), while the United Kingdom has delivered over 2,000 tonnes of food aid to Gaza through the Jordanian land corridor, benefiting more than 275,000 people.

Israel has also facilitated the entry of 248 humanitarian aid trucks into Gaza, and the US and Jordanian militaries conducted airdrops of humanitarian assistance in the northern strip. However, the United Nations human rights chief has raised concerns that Israel's restrictions on aid to Gaza could constitute a war crime of starvation.
