India is to introduce AYUSH visas for foreign nationals who want to visit India for the home-grown therapy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday as he inaugurated the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit.

Modi said India is witnessing unprecedented growth in the production of AYUSH medicines, supplements and cosmetics. “India will soon launch the AYUSH mark to recognize traditional medicine products which will give authenticity to quality AYUSH products of the country," he said. Modi addressed the event in the presence of Mauritian prime minister Pravind Kumar Jug-nauth and Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, director-general, World Health Organization (WHO).

Tedros said: “India’s philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’ is the driving force behind the launch of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar. The GCTM centre is historic and will prove to be a game changer. The Centre is designed to be an engine of innovation to drive the agenda of evidence, data and sustainability and optimization of use of traditional medicine."
