I tried Aldi's £4 dupe of the £32 Dior lip oil and my lips looked 'smooth and glossy'

This time of year is usually all about glossy looking lips for that perfect sun-kissed look.

The latest 'lip oil' craze can end up being costly, with the viral Dior product priced at a whopping £32. Lip glosses usually have a sticky finish, with no real beneficial ingredient to improve the health of your lips.

Lip oil, however, offers a lightweight finish that adds shine without being too tacky or uncomfortable. Since lip oils have been on the scene, I’ve become a huge fan, but I’ve also been put off by the price.

Perhaps the most well known lip oil on the market right now is the 'Dior Addict Lip Glow' which promises to 'deeply protect' and 'enhance the lips' - whilst bringing out their natural colour. Priced at £32, the lip oil can be worn on its own, as a primer under lipstick, or as a top coat for 'volumising shine'.

As amazing as this all sounds, I simply can’t justify forking out £32 on some lip oil. I have used the Dior lip oil in the past, but only as a sample product in my M&S Beauty Advent Calendar.

That's why Aldi has come at the right time with its very exciting Dior Lip Oil dupe.

The 'Luminous Lip Oil' is priced at £3.99 and comes in a 10ml tube. It’s specially formulated with Vitamin E and antioxidants to moisturise and nourish the lips.

Aldi is selling the dupe in two different variants - luminous cherry and luminous clear. I used the luminous cherry over a red lip and was amazed with the finish.

The lipgloss blended seamlessly into my lips and had a slight tingle to it which made my lips feel plumped. I often go over my lips with lipstick to make them appear bigger, and this blended everything together really well.

Even after applying this lip oil and taking it off, my lips felt super nourished and soft, which is a rarity for me, especially because of the amount of lipstick I wear. My only criticism of this product would be that the glossy effect only lasted for just over an hour, so application would need to be repeated throughout the day.

Other than that, my lips had a gorgeous glossy shine and looked lovely and plump. I’m obsessed with the finish!

The Aldi Luminous Lip Oil will be available to purchase online in store from June 22. You can find your local Aldi store here.
