An expert says people should clean their house "every single day", deep clean their home once a week and hire a cleaner if they can't to do it themselves. Angela Donal, 41, shared her tips to stop your home becoming a "bacterial warzone" and suggests the dirtiest things in a home include dish clothes, mobile phones and door handles.
She suggests people should do some form of cleaning every day - as well as a "deep clean" once a week - and recommends hiring a cleaner if you are unable to do it yourself. Angela says households should disinfect their dish cloths after every use and clean their germ-ridden mobile phones with disinfectant wipes.
She added many people forget to clean their switches and wash their hands - which can lead to the spread of dangerous bacteria such as E.coli and MRSA. She recommends using boiling water and bleach to clean the sink.
Professional cleaner and owner of Peachy Clean, Angela said: "Every day we should clean. Cleaning is an essential part of your life.
"Every house needs one good clean a week due to bacteria spreading. You should hire people to clean your house if you can't do it yourself.
"The most touched thing in your home is probably your mobile phone. It's 10 times dirtier than some toilet seats. Make sure you clean it regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser. Dish cloths are notorious for bacteria.
"Every time I use a dish cloth, I disinfect it."
She also advises people to wash their hands and clean their switches. She said: "Don't miss any switches and frequently wash hands as the bacteria is in your hands. "Don't open doors without washing your hands or doing anything that may involve touching something."
She added: "Keep your hands away from your face to prevent viruses that you may pick up from your hands, they are very easily spread." The most common bacteria that spreads from hands is MRSA which is picked up from items in your home that are frequently touched by others.
To clean your sink, Angela advises all that is needed is some boiling water and bleach. She said: "Instead of standing and cleaning the sink for half an hour put some bleach in the sink pop the plug in with a kettle of boiling water.
"Now your sink has no germs."
