'I don't really worry' - Sean Dyche lifts lid on 'relentless' talks with Everton players

Sean Dyche wants to instil a “relentless mentality” in his Everton squad.

The Blues boss has been at the club for just over a month and has led his new side to seven points from six games - half of which were against Arsenal and Liverpool. While there has been a clutch of positive signs from the early days of Dyche’s reign, Everton remain in the bottom three and have a crucial home game with Brentford at the weekend.

Ahead of the fixture, Dyche spoke about his demands of the squad he inherited upon his appointment at the end of January.

Dyche has been keen to push his players and was pleased with large parts of his side’s performance at Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Everton conceded a late equaliser in that game but it was another that highlighted the progress being made as the Blues scored twice for the first time since October and could have increased their advantage at the end of the first half.

It was the latest display under Dyche to show Everton can decide the club’s own fate, with crucial wins over Arsenal and Leeds United, both at Goodison Park, similarly based on determined performances.

Dyche wants his team to cut out game-changing mistakes and is intent on creating a belief they are never out of matches. He said: “I don’t really worry about scorelines, it is about how you are handling a game, how you are managing a game, how you are managing a performance.

"What I do know is the relentless mentality I want from the players and we have been speaking about that a lot. Anything is achievable at any given moment in a game so we take on the game to the last breath.”
