Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) recently made significant arrests in Maryland and Georgia, apprehending two illegal migrants involved in a drugs and narcotics operation. The agency, in collaboration with various law enforcement entities, successfully dismantled the illicit activities of these individuals.
Following the indictment of 10 Tren de Aragua gang members in New York City, HSI Baltimore took swift action, leading to the arrest of the two migrants. The suspects were found in possession of an arsenal of over 30 weapons, highlighting the severity of their criminal enterprise.
The joint operation between HSI Baltimore and HSI Atlanta, supported by ATF's Baltimore field division, the Baltimore Police Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, underscores the coordinated efforts to combat such criminal activities.
While the identities of the arrested migrants remain undisclosed, authorities are actively working to gather more information on their backgrounds and the extent of their operations. In a separate incident in New York City, eight illegal immigrants were apprehended for running an extensive arms and drugs operation across multiple states.
Prosecutors revealed that the group had intentions to expand their operations internationally, specifically to Colombia. The seizure of 34 illegal guns, including high-powered assault rifles, and the distribution of dangerous drugs like pink cocaine, further emphasize the gravity of the situation.
Notably, all ten individuals involved in the New York City case are migrants from Venezuela who entered the country illegally. The gang's leadership, comprised of Venezuelan nationals, orchestrated a sophisticated gun-running network involving foreign accomplices.
During the arrests in New York City, a violent altercation resulted in an officer sustaining injuries, leading to charges against one of the Tren de Aragua members. Immigration officials have intensified efforts to deport violent illegal migrants, aligning with recent directives under the new administration.
