Who Will Win California, Trump or Harris?

California has voted for the Democratic nominee in every presidential election since 1992. In fact, Democrats have secured at least 60% of the vote in each of the past four elections and the trend is expected to continue in 2024.

At Kalshi, Kamala Harris has a 97% chance of winning California compared to just 3% for Donald Trump.

FiveThirtyEight, one of the top predictive algorithms for the election, has Harris ahead by a considerable 25% margin. Harris owns a 59.4% chance to win California compared to just 34.4% for Trump.

Most top sportsbooks seem to agree with a win for the Democratic Party priced even more aggressively. According to the election betting odds, the Democrats own -10000 odds to win California, which implies a probability of over 99%. On the other hand, Republicans own +2500 odds to win California on Election Day, which amounts to a slim 4% chance.

2024 Presidential Election Betting Prediction

At -155 odds, Trump has approximately a 61% chance of winning the election, according to the betting odds. However, that’s not the case in the national polls with several leading publications putting Harris in the lead heading into Election Day.

At FiveThirtyEight, Harris owns a 48.0% chance of winning the election compared to only 46.8% for Trump, giving her a 1.1% advantage. That would mean there’s a ton of value on Harris at +130 odds to win the election. Currently priced as an underdog, a $100 bet on Harris would return $130 or a return on investment of 130%.
