Holidaymakers are booking mystery road trips to avoid airport chaos - and they don't even know the destination before they travel. Latest data from mystery travel experts srprs.me, shows that almost half of UK trips taken with the company are no-fly options.
When customers book a srprs.me trip, the destination is kept secret until departure. However, travellers can select the type of accommodation (glamping, standard, plus or special) and the surroundings (urban or rural) and add extras to their trip such as breakfast, or even bring their dog.
The mystery location will be a two-to-four-hour drive from their front door. srprs.me handles all of the bookings, logistics, and monitoring of travel regulations for their customers, so travellers simply have to pack a bag and have fun.
Booking data confirms that In the first three months of this year, 30 per cent of UK bookings were for a road trip. In May and June this rose to 40 per cent. Around 45 per cent of road trips were for a two day/one night duration, with another 40 per cent for three day/two nights.
Just 12 per cent were for four day/three nights. Srprs.me also offers a Multi Road where adventurers visit two to seven destinations in three to 14 days.
Anneke Nijenhuis, of srprs.me, said: "We are seeing a surge in mystery road-trip bookings and the relatively small distances between so many amazing urban, rural and coastal locations in the UK make it ideal for this type of adventure. Roadtrippers simply pack their bags and we do the rest, guaranteeing a stress-free trip of a lifetime."
