Ann Wilson, the lead singer of the band Heart, revealed on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with cancer. In a statement shared on social media, the 74-year-old singer disclosed that she recently underwent a successful operation to remove a cancerous growth. Despite feeling great post-surgery, Wilson's medical team has recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has opted to undergo.
As a result of her health situation, Wilson has made the decision to take a break from performing for the remainder of the year. Consequently, Heart's ongoing North American tour has been postponed until next year. The band, currently on their 'Royal Flush' tour across the U.S. and Canada, had scheduled performances in various cities, with the tour set to conclude in Las Vegas on December 15.
Heart, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band, is renowned for hits such as 'Magic Man,' 'Crazy on You,' 'Barricuda,' and 'Alone.' Wilson expressed her regret to ticket holders for the postponed shows, assuring them of her intention to return to the stage in the coming year. She mentioned that her team is working on rescheduling the tour dates and will provide updates as soon as possible.
Wilson expressed gratitude to fans for their support during this challenging time, emphasizing that this setback is just a temporary pause in her music career. She concluded by affirming her determination to continue singing and promised more updates in the future.
