Haryana: Four terror suspects arrested in Karnal, huge quantities of explosives recovered

CHANDIGARH: Busting a big terror plot, Haryana Police, in a joint operation with Punjab Police and Central Security Agencies, on Thursday arrested four suspected terrorists from Karnal district.

Disclosing this on Thursday, additional director general of police (Law and Order), Haryana, Sandeep Khirwar said that the police have also recovered 3 IEDs, one Pakistan-made pistol, 31 live cartridges and Rs 1.30 lakh in cash from the arrested persons.

"On credible intelligence inputs, all were apprehended around 4.30am. We are conducting a thorough probe into this case to ascertain the involvement of another terrorist group," he added.

The arrested persons have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh, Parminder Singh, all from Ferozepur, and Bhupinder Singh from Ludhiana.

All the four accused were later produced before the local court which sent them to 10 days police remand. Now they would be produced before the court on May 15.

A case under the relevant sections of IPC, UAPA and under Arms Act has been registered against them in Madhuban Police Station.

Meanwhile, sharing details about the incident, Haryana home minister Anil Vij said that the explosives recovered from the arrested persons were supplied to the accused by Pakistan-based Harvinder Singh Rinda through drones and they had to deliver the explosives to Adilabad, in Telangana.

Vij said that Haryana Police has been very successful and immediate action had to be taken in this case, thus, three vehicles of Dial 112 and a local car were pressed into immediate action and the terrorists were caught.

Vij said that the matter is being investigated by the security agencies and the rest of the information will be revealed only after the inquiry is completed.
