Prince Harry is said to be ‘delighted’ with the way his Netflix series is turning out, but he must be one of the few people who is.
The rest of us have been shocked that he should go against the wishes of his brother William and show a clip of the Panorama interview their mother was tricked into giving.
We are appalled that Meghan should mock the Queen, and disgusted at the way the couple are trashing our country to the world.
If Harry wants to hurt his family, that is a matter for him and them.
But when he undermines our constitutional monarchy, that is a matter for us.
Whatever resentment this whining couple now feel, they should know that in the beginning, the British people took their romance to their hearts.
Meghan was a breath of fresh air who could have done much to enliven a stuffy institution, and Harry the cheeky chappie who helped to give it a more human face.
They abandoned the role that Harry was born into, and the one to which Meghan signed up.
So they should not be surprised if the people of Britain finally turn their back on them.
Pit of despair
The Sunday Mirror has been fighting for years to get retired miners a fair deal.
Yet, as we reveal today, they get such a pittance in pensions that they cannot even afford to give their loved ones decent funerals.
We hope they get the judicial review they are demanding and that those behind the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme will be ordered to do the right thing.
Successive governments took £4.4billion out of a pension pot which should belong to the miners or their widows.
If Rishi Sunak was the ethical PM which he claims to be, he would say enough is enough and ensure future surpluses go into ex-miners’ pockets and not Treasury coffers.
Those who toiled down the pits for so long are getting on a bit and many cannot wait for a Labour government to see justice done.
The miners are only asking for what is rightfully due to them. Mr Sunak would have the backing of his own MPs if he were to give miners what they are owed.
There is no doubt that is what an honest Prime Minister would do.
Here’s to 2026
The omens were so good. England had never lost to France in a World Cup, nor has our national team ever been defeated in December.
But last night, fortune did not smile on us.
Our lads gave it their all but it was not enough to beat the 2018 winners.
So the dream of repeating that 1966 triumph remains just that… for now.
Be that as it may, the squad has done us proud. Hats off to them for reaching the quarters.
Now we can start looking forward to 2026 – and England making it to the final in New York.
