Tami Hoffman will join the Guardian in March from ITN, where she is director of news distribution and commercial innovation.
Tami has spent over 20 years in broadcast news, including editorial, commercial and policy roles at ITN, Sky News and PA Media. Most recently, Tami became AI lead for ITN.
In her new role as director of public policy at the Guardian, Tami will have global responsibility for advising the Guardian’s approach to AI, joining the internal AI Council, and assessing the risks and potential benefits and working with politicians, regulators and platforms in this space.
Tami will also lead on public policy strategy - from misinformation to strategic lawsuits against public participation - in coordination with local teams.
Amber de Botton, chief communications officer, Guardian News & Media said:
“Tami understands both the commercial and editorial priorities for news, which will be crucial as the Guardian navigates its way through challenges like AI and misinformation. I have seen first-hand her tenacity and effectiveness in influencing the policy landscape - and know she will make a huge impact as we continue to grow globally.”
Tami Hoffman said:
“I am delighted to be joining the Guardian as director of public policy in this critical phase of AI’s development. It is a high stakes moment for the news industry - and as a long term reader and supporter of the Guardian I hope to bring energy and insight to this vital role.”
