Greggs delights fans with return of popular item - but there's a catch

Greggs fans will be excited to learn that a popular item has returned to the menu.

The bakery giant announced that the Vegan Sausage Bean and CheeZe Melt is officially back - but it won't be for long.

Everyones favourite high-street bakery chain's range of plant-based delights always goes down a storm with foodies across the country, whether it be the vegan sausage roll or vegan steak bake.

And many of us have quite the soft spot for the Sausage, Bean and Cheeze Melt, which is why fans are delighted it is officially back on the menu. The downside? Greggs has confirmed it will only be available for a limited time - so you might want to act fast.

Made as a vegan mirror to its meaty counterpart, the delicious £1.90 pastry is filled with vegan sausage, grated original and mozzarella flavour vegan cheeZe, and of course tasty baked beans.

Greggs took to its Twitter account to share the good - and slightly bittersweet - news to its fans who said that the return of the melt was "the best news."

The bakery chain wrote: "The Vegan Sausage Bean and CheeZe Melt is back…for a limited time only."

Shoppers were quick to respond to the news with enthusiasm, with some so happy that they were actually a little disheartened to find out the addition was not permanent.

"BEST NEWS", raved one shopper. "Here for this", commented a second.

"Should be permanent", said a third. "Yass!!!!!!", exclaimed a fourth.

Other foodies were also quick to point out how they were also upset at the lack of vegan steak bakes on the menu, with one saying: "What has happened to the vegan steak bake? I know I keep banging on about it, but they don’t even stock them in my local Icelands anymore. Miffed."
