Googlebox star Jenny Newby has finally got her hands on a BAFTA TV award and sent a lovely message to her “bezzie mate” and fellow telly watcher Lee Riley in her belated acceptance speech.
The Channel 4 show won Best Reality and Constructed Factual in May, with Jenny accepting the award from her garden after missing the ceremony due to being in hospital.
The telly favourite looked proud as punch as she spoke to the camera to send a special message to Lee who she hailed for being there for her through the pandemic.
She posted the heart-warming on her Instagram page where she thanks to her pal and fellow couch potato. Stood on the decking of her famed static home, she began: "Hiya Lee, it's only me. I've got my BAFTA!
"I know I couldn't be there with you on the night – I swapped my evening gown for my theatre gown, and my black stockings for surgical stockings, and my silver clutch bag for a catheter bag. But all in all, I never got to say thank you to you, you know, for the support you gave me through the pandemic when we was filming," Jenny said.
“You know, and the things that you did for me like giving me that 9ft by 5ft bedroom – wall to wall... walls, and enough room under the bed for my Pot Noodle and a packet of fags."
"And the one shelf you gave me in the kitchen, and I needed to stand on a step to get to it!
"But I just want to say all in all Lee, thank you very much for being my bezzie mate, and I'm hoping to see you soon. Bye bye."
Fans were very pleased to see Jenny doing so well after her hospital stay.
Taking to the comments under the video, one fan wrote: "Definitely friendships goals right there, get well soon Jenny. Can’t wait to see yous back on tv soon, always a good laugh when yous are on."
Another penned: "Love you all but you two are just fantastic keep on smiling!"
Despite her surgery, Jenny and Lee have reassured fans they will be back for the next series which starts in September.
The iconic duo was reunited when Jenny went to visit Lee and his boyfriend over in Cyprus where they spent their entire summer.
The new series of Gogglebox is set to start on September 9 th on Channel 4.
