God of War Ragnarök: How long to beat, chapter list, and endgame content after the main story

If you’re jumping on God of War Ragnarök this week, you might be wondering how much time it’ll take you to complete your adventure. Not to worry, we’re here to help: the following guide features all the information you need about how long God of War Ragnarök is, the main story’s full chapter list, and how the entire endgame section works.

How long is God of War Ragnarök

First, let’s look at God of War Ragnarök’s main quest. During our God of War Ragnarök review playthrough, we spent around 31 hours and 30 minutes in the game, which allowed us to complete the main story and a number of side quests, gathering about half of Odin’s ravens and a bunch of other collectibles.

Of course, this time is far from what it takes to experience the complete package Ragnarök has to offer, as confirmed by the additional time we’ve spent after completing the main story – around 45 hours and still a lot of side missions to play through.

God of War Ragnarök chapter list

God of War Ragnarök’s main quest is called “The Path,” and features several Goals, which essentially make up the standard chapter or mission list you’d find in any other game.

These are all the Goals you’ll need to complete in order to wrap the main story up:

  • Surviving Fimbulwinter
  • The Quest for Tyr
  • Groa’s Secret
  • The Reckoning
  • The Word of Fate
  • Forging Destiny
  • Reunion
  • Creatures of Prophecy
  • Hunting for Solace
  • The Summoning
  • The Realms at War

God of War Ragnarök endgame

God of War Ragnarök doesn’t feature New Game+ right now, so once you finish the game, you’ll be able to restart the entire story or keep playing your existing game. The Path will trigger one more Goal called “Beyond Ragnarök,” where you’ll be tasked with taking care of anything you’ve left on the map by the end of “The Realms at War” quest.

This includes the ability to explore the last remnants of Asgard, a bunch of high-level encounters you’ll only be able to play at the end of the main quest, while you’ll also travel at the Muspelheim Crucible to complete the dedicated challenges. Berserkers’ souls will still be there for you to find and beat, same as the Favors you’ve left behind.

On top of that, at the end of the main quest you’ll find out more about characters and locations, with several shocking revelations about their fates. So, even in terms of story, it’s extremely recommended that you keep playing after the main quest. On top of that, Ratatoskr will provide you with all the Yggdrasill seeds you’ll need, so that your exploration becomes much smoother.
