Sheriffs have praised a goat that joined in a police chase and helped officers nab a fleeing suspect.
The goat, named Gracie, helped two deputies flush out the suspect after he was told he was under arrest and fled on foot in the Fieldale area of Georgia, in the US.
Deputy David Parnell had come across the suspect on February 13 while investigating a case of domestic assault.
He then chased the suspect through a fence line and across a field - when the goat joined from a nearby property.
Dept Parnell and his unexpected 'colleague' then reached the next line of the fence and the goat led the chase and followed the suspect into the woods.
Dept Parnell then assessed the situation, while the goat and another deputy caught the man who was taken into custody, reports the Martinsville Bulletin.
Henry County Sheriff's Office, investigating, gave thanks to Gracie for her assistance in the foot chase.
A spokesperson said: "Sometimes help comes in all shapes and sizes."
Captain Scott Barker said Dept Parnell returned the goat to its owner after the incident was resolved.
When asked if the goat might be recognised by the department for its outstanding citizenship and contribution to the prevention of crime, he added: “That’s about all I know at this point.”
Authorities are yet to confirm the name of the suspect.
