As the trend of celebrity lookalike contests continues to chokehold the world’s attention spans, A-list hunk Glen Powell has made his one more interesting by announcing a prize for his lookalike, that he estimated is worth “a cash value of six billion dollars”.
What’s that? You haven’t heard of the major trend sweeping the globe where people gather at a place and determine which random attendee looks the most like a massive celebrity? Allow me to explain.
Ever since that Wonka-nerd Timothee Chalamet turned up to a contest in New York looking for his lookalike, pretty much every capital city has announced its own spin on the trend. There was a Jeremy Allen White one in Chicago, and a Paul Mescal one in Dublin, to name a few.
It’s even made its way onto Aussie shores, with a Heath Ledger doppelgänger contest being held in Sydney just this weekend. And no, he did not attend.
Though it seems like this trend is just another way for the world to pay tribute to our favourite White Boys Of The Month, Twisters actor Glen Powell has made his one a tiny bit more fun than usual.

Glen Powell’s mum judges lookalike contest for her son
At an event in Austin, Texas — the hometown of Mr G. Powell himself — hundreds of Glens gathered at the Auditorium Shores in Town Lake to compare who had the most Glenergy.
And while Powell was busy at a shoot and could not be in attendance himself, in his place was none other than his own mother and aunt — how cute!

Not only was Cyndey Powell there to look at the clones of her son that had gathered, but she was also there to judge who was the most like her sweet boy.
But that’s not all!
As well as sending his mum off to judge the many contest Glentries, Powell appeared via a recorded video to share a message where he announced a special prize.
After some jokes for the crowd about pulling off a heist, the Anyone But You actor declared a massive opportunity he would be affording the winner.
“I know there is some cash and a hat at stake here, but I just want to say that the winner of today’s contest gets a personal prize from me,” said Powell.
“Now you may know that my parents make a cameo in every movie I make but today, the winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest wins their parents, or any family member of their choice, a cameo in my next movie.”

Powell confirmed that he was “completely serious” about this offer, and added that he estimated it had “a cash value prize of six billion dollars”.
I’m no accountant, but I think that guess is at the low Gl-end of the spectrum.
