Two Glasgow venues have joined in the frenzy around James Corden's alleged poor behaviour towards restaurant staff, claiming that the comedian is banned from their establishments.
Social media went into overdrive after James, 44, was temporarily banned from eating at Balthazar restaurants after chain owner Keith McNally claimed on Instagram that a waiter was "left shaken" after James was upset that the egg white was mixed with the yolk in his wife's omelette and "yelled like crazy", during a trip to one of his NYC French brasseries.
The ban was later dropped after the Gavin & Stacey star rang Keith up "apologising profusely", but the Instagram post had already gone viral, with other companies such as Ryanair jokingly banning James, and memes produced about the incident on Twitter.
The Cathouse Glasgow, which hosts live gigs, shared a picture of James on Tuesday, with a red no entry sign posted over it, and wrote: "James Corden banned from Cathouse."
On the same day, The Hug & Pint, a music venue and restaurant simply wrote: "James Corden is banned from The Hug & Pint."
The tweet from The Hug & Pint has now been deleted
Keith branded the Peter Rabbit star a "gifted comedian" but a "cretin of a man" in his original post.
The restauranteur shared two separate reports from managers of his French brasserie Balthazar eateries – where one claimed he was "extremely nasty" to one waiter and "demanded" a round of drinks after finding hair in his food.
Just two hours later Keith took to Instagram to say he had dropped his ban on James.
He wrote: "James Corden just called me and apologized profusely. Having f****d up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances."
Keith went on: "But... anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn't deserve to be banned from anyway. Especially Balthazar. So come back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven. xx"
In another Instagram post later on, Keith said he was "Feeling strange about the James Corden thing."
He said: "On the one hand, he was definitely abusive to my staff, on the other hand, I feel really sorry for him right now. "
Two restaurants in New Yok have since come forward to praise James, with one saying "they can't imagine him being mean."
Stratis Morfogen, who has opened 40 restaurants over the years in the big apple, says James is "one of the most pleasant and funny guys" he's ever served.
He said the TV host was a "gracious tipper" when Stratis' team catered for him at a post-Grammy Awards event for Bruno Mars at his Brooklyn Chop House restaurant in 2018.
According to the businessman, James "was there singing songs with bartenders" and "yukking it up with staffers at the bar".
