Glasgow's favourite vegan and vegetarian restaurants

With it being the tenth year of Veganuary, the global pledge to try vegan for 31 days, the popularity of vegan food continues to grow, with a record-breaking sign-up rate of one person taking up the challenge every 2.4 seconds, according to the organisers.

And with many more people taking the pledge, they will be wanting to go out to restaurants to try some delicious food, without the fear of being tempted to eat non-plant-based dishes.

So, should you be taking on the challenge or you are just curious about the Vegetarian or Flexitarian lifestyle, then this guide could be handy for you.

Hug & Pint, Great Western Road


A west-end favourite, the Hug & Pint offers a menu packed full of small plates designed for sharing, with Asian-inspired options like the delicious mushroom and cashew curry.

13th Note, King Street

One of the most famous restaurants on this list and for good reason, the ultra-hip 13th Note is not only a great place for a pint but also does some smashing dishes like the amazing Mac n Cheese, Crispy Korean Cauliflower and Barbeque Sweetcorn Ribs.

Another great bar and kitchen can be found in Finnieston with the 78's cosy Victorian era interior with its fireplace, where you'll find a delightful menu of brunch favourites like the scrambled tofu on toast and the massive breakfast plate.

Mono, Kings Court

Another of Glasgow's originals, Mono serves a vast array of vegetarian dishes ranging from their popular To-Fish and Chips to Haggis, Kale and Potato pizzas, and should you have room for dessert, the legendary Toasted Donut Ice Cream Sandwich.

Stereo, Renfield Lane

For relaxed but high-quality veggie dining, it’s hard to top a trip to Stereo. A special menu features seasonal vegetarian offerings as well as staples like the chip supper, the Banana Blossom Tacos and the original Stereo Seitan Burger.

Ranjit's Kitchen, Pollokshaws Road

A true hidden gem in the southside, Ranjit’s signature thali, Rotis, pickles and chutney are must-tries.

In fact, the whole menu is a treasure of Panjabi food-inspired dishes – and every single one is veggie-friendly. Just be sure to finish off with one of their ever-popular Mango flavoured Lassis.

Falafel To Go, Hope Street

You know those spots that open and instantly everyone seems to know about them? Well, this tiny takeaway is making huge waves with its Kurdish Street Food by offering exactly what it says on the tin but don't be fooled by its simplicity, they are delicious.

Suissi Vegan Kitchen, Dumbarton Road

This west-end Asian hotspot offers an entirely vegan menu with plenty of Asian flavours from Chinese to Thai that's seen it quickly become one of the top 10 UK's highest-rated vegan restaurants on Google.

Expect dishes like Thai Curry, Vegetable Gyoza, Kung Po Oyster mushrooms, King Trumpet Katsu Curry and Singapore Noodles.

The Glad Cafe, Pollokshaws Road

This café, bar and multi-arts venue is a southside favourite, with a vibrant menu that is served each day until 9 pm.

Heading across the river to find tasty plates filled with vegan treats like the sriracha kofta skewers, Katsu curry and the panko tofu burger.

Flying Duck, Renfield St

First opened in 2007, the very cool basement bar surrounds of the Flying Duck is where you'll find some of the most modern and tasty vegan dishes around including their plant-based takes on burgers, hot dogs, tacos, burritos and ramen bowls.
