A childcare organisation in Cardonald has been given funding to help roll out an initiative to tackle 'holiday hunger' among children.
A total of £5487.72 was granted by the local area partnership to the Indigo Childcare Group who want to build on a project to provide a healthy meal holiday programme in conjunction with Lourdes Secondary School.
It comes following a successful pilot where 20 children attending the school were referred to the programme and 15 benefited from the scheme.

The leadership team of Lourdes had identified several challenges pupils experience during the holiday period that hinders their progress and achievement at school where families are not financially able to provide a healthy meal for their child as a result of other financial pressures.
It was felt that young people who did not have structure or stimuli during the holidays that supported their ongoing growth, development and well-being needed supervision and professional support which led to the development of the pilot scheme.
The allocation of new funding will allow 15 young people to receive one healthy meal per session, with the programme running twice a week from 10.30am until 2.30pm, and be provided with food related activity bags at least one per week to take home.
There will be 15 sessions this summer including one extra session for a day trip go-karting on the last day of the programme.
Funds will also help afford daily meals, snacks, treat meals, recipe bag kits as well as outdoor utensils including waterproof jackets, bags, fleeces and bottles.
Following the meeting, Cardonald councillor Alex Wilson said: “This was another good cause we agreed to fund.
“They are identifying children and young people with needs by setting up a group to help them and reintegrate them into school while helping with their education.”
