Glasgow granny died a month after 'shock' cancer diagnosis as family pay tribute

A loving daughter has paid tribute to a Glasgow gran who sadly passed away four weeks after she received a cancer diagnosis.

Amanda Malcomson, 53, was left devastated when her beloved mum, Susan, lost her battle to cancer after it spread throughout her body on November 12 last year. The 73-year-old had only been diagnosed by doctors a month prior.

Her daughter is still trying to comprehend the loss of her mother.

She told Glasgow Live: "I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact she had cancer.

"I still can't believe that she passed away.

"I never really dealt with cancer before, so it came as a big shock to us.

Susan leaves behind three children, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandkids who miss her greatly.

The granny always looked to put a smile on her family's faces and even tried to take part in a few social media trends.

Amanda said: "My mum was lovely and she took pride in all her grandkids, they were always at her house..

"She was very funny and looked to make us laugh.

"She was always doing TikTok dances with the grandkids and she loved her holidays away.

"My mum would do anything to help any of us."

The 53-year-old is now looking to raise £1000 for the Beatson after they provided exquisite care for her mother.

Amanda will hand the money to the charity just after Susan's birthday next month.

The adoring daughter said: "I work in Sainsbury's at Crow Road so me and the colleagues have been round with buckets.

"We've done a few different things to raise money.

"The Beatson couldn't have been any nicer to my mum when she was in. For £25 a patient they can get a massgae, their nails and hair done.

"My mum really loved it. Her birthday is in June so I'm handing the donations over on June 10 in her memory."
