Ghost Ship games gave Deep Rock Galactic season 3 an official name in a brand-new trailer for the multiplayer game, along with a season 3 release date. Deep Rock Galactic season 3 is called “Plaguefall” and will release on Nov. 3, 2022, on Steam, before launching on console and Xbox Game Pass two weeks later – Nov. 17, 2022.
Deep Rock Galactic’s “Plaguefall” introduces a number of new features to the co-op space game, the biggest of which is a pestilence – hence the name. Meteors are careening through the galaxy, shedding disease and death as they go. Expect plenty of meteorite strikes to interrupt your spelunking trips, and make sure to take cover lest ye meet a fiery, rocky end.
Once the meteors land, you and your team need to work fast to extract their cores, which earn you a hefty bonus if you take them back with the rest of your plunder. The rapid crash rate means more diseased meteors will slip through your grasp than not, so be prepared for plague in cavern depths.
You can hoover up the sickness as you come across it, but you’ll also come across infected critters down in the darkness. Keep your distance from them at all costs, as infected miners won’t last long.
Lucky for you and the squad, Ghost Ship is adding some snazzy new distance weapons to help give you a fighting chance. One new boomerang electrocutes enemies in its path and hits multiple foes before returning to you. A modified grenade is also making its debut, one outfitted with a gun that sprays heavy fire in a circle. The grenade doesn’t actually explode, but chances are, there won’t be anything left in the immediate area anyway.
Deep Rock Galactic season three comes with a new battle pass, but your unearned season two cosmetics aren’t disappearing completely. They just get added to the general loot pool.
