From Snoop Loopz to Kim K toilet roll: All the weirdest celeb products ever sold

News that Snoop Dogg is releasing a new breakfast cereal would come as a shock if it wasn’t one in a long line of leftfield celeb endorsements.

The rapper’s gluten-free Snoop Loopz are the latest product to be added to his already thriving Broadus Foods empire.

But Snoop is not the first star to use his name to plug an unusual product.

Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne once appeared in an advert for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter and footballer Joe Hart promoted Head & Shoulders shampoo.

Here, we take a look at some of the other odd celebrity endorsements that are hard to forget…

Donald Trump Steaks

If they’re not ‘the greatest steaks in the world’, are they even Donald Trump ’s?

The business mogul turned President of the United States has tried his hand at many things. But few of his ventures really worked out – like his foray into steaks. In 2007, Trump Steaks were available in the US for $199.

Needless to say, the average American was unimpressed.

One Direction Monopoly

This classic board game has been adapted countless times to create themed sets such as a Marvel Universe edition and a London Underground version.

But somehow, in 2014, the world’s biggest boy band muscled in on the franchise. The 1D version includes some of the band’s best moments, including ‘Auditioning for The X Factor ’ and ‘Royal Variety Performance’.

We’re not sure how you’re supposed to charge someone 400 for that, though…

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran with his Heinz tomato ketchup - called Edchup (wonderland Communications)

Ed Sheeran Heinz Tomato Ketchup

Heinz Tomato Ketchup pretty much dominates the global ketchup market – but that didn’t stop bosses pulling out all the stops to help promote the Wigan-based brand’s 150th anniversary.

And who better to promote the red sauce than the nation’s favourite redhead himself, Ed Sheeran?

The aptly named Edchup, which launched in 2019, was reportedly a result of the singer’s life-long obsession with the condiment.

Gwyneth Paltrow candle label boasts that 'This Smells Like My Vagina' (Goop)

Gwyneth Paltrow vagina candles

Gwyneth Paltrow has never been one to play by the rules. Calling her daughter Apple was just the start of an unusual chain of events which culminated in the 2020 release of a candle based on the scent of her vagina.

Unbelievably, the product, which was available from the actress’s Goop website, sold out numerous times.

Rock band Kiss's branded coffin is aimed at die-hard fans (Nashville Caskets)

The Kiss Kasket

The branded Kiss Kasket is without a doubt the most macabre on the list of bizarre celebrity products.

The extravagant coffin, lined with images of the band members in full garb, launched in 2001 for the band’s die-hard fans.

It originally sold for £3,300 and could double up as a cooler for drinks and snacks. Some second-generation models were released in 2011.

The group became so influential, they collaborated with Durex in 2010 to launch an extra-safe line of condoms. They even agreed to have their faces printed on the front of each “Just Love Safe” box.

Shaquille O’Neal Shaq-Fu game

Shaquille O’Neal is a basketball legend. But one of his lesser-known roles is his starring credit in 1994 SNES game, Shaq-Fu.

It follows the story of Shaq, who wanders into a dojo on his way to a basketball game and enters a new dimension full of mummies.

Bob Dylan: advocate of civil liberties, Nobel Prize winner in literature and lover of “lady garments” – his words, not ours.

The musician was accused of selling out when he featured in a 2004 ad for Victoria’s Secret’s New Angels collection, which debuted during an episode of American Idol.

Kim Kardashian Charmin loo roll

The lifestyles of the rich and the famous aren’t all they’re cracked up to be – and even Kim Kardashian doesn’t have a clean sheet when it comes to embarrassing moments.

Back in 2010, Kimmy K was just like the rest of us (well, kind of) and guess what? Everybody poops.

The socialite and businesswoman threw her weight behind Charmin toilet roll and even opened a glamorous restroom in the heart of New York City.

Boxing hero Muhammad Ali took part in a 1980 ad for no-poison cockroach traps (Alamy Stock Photo)

Muhammad Ali roach traps

Despite his astronomical success in the ring, Muhammad Ali showed that no one is immune to cringeworthy adverts, even if they’re an undisputed heavyweight champion.

In 1980, the world’s greatest boxer floated like a butterfly, stung like a bee and acted badly in a cockroach trap commercial.

The superstar’s ad for no-poison cockroach traps even featured him throwing an air punch, before exclaiming, “Wham! They’re dead”.
