David Schwimmer has called for Adidas to cut ties with rapper Kanye West as a result of his Anti-semitic tweet.
The 55-year-old actor took to Instagram sharing a video of West stating, "I can literally say anti-Semitic things and Adidas can't drop me... Now what?"
Sharing the video to his Instagram Story, the Friends star posted along with the message "Now what," directed to the Adidas official Instagram account, which he tagged in the post.
He later shared a follow-up post, urging his own followers to join him and the Anti-Defamation League in demanding that Adidas cut ties with the artist once and for all.
A Change.org petition – titled Adidas must end its partnership with the antisemite Ye (AKA Kanye West) – has also been shared by the Hollywood star. The petition has more than 10,000 signatures.
In another Instagram post the Ross Geller actor aired this week on Instagram last week saying: "Jews make up only 2.4% of the population of the United States but are the victims of more than 60% of all religious hate crimes.
"Whether or not Kanye West is mentally ill, there's no question he is a bigot.
"His hate speech calls for violence against Jews.
'If you interpret his words any other way and defend him, guess what? You are racist.
"If we don’t call someone as influential as Kanye out for his divisive, ignorant and anti-semitic words then we are complicit. Silence is complicity."
Sportswear giant Adidas confirmed on Thursday in a statement obtained by CNBC that their partnership with Ye is 'under review following his controversial comments online'.
Yeezys has been with Adidas since 2015 and each year, the shoe sales grew and reportedly made $1.7 billion (£1.5 billion) in revenue in 2021.
But things have steadily been getting worse for the collaboration not least since West accused the shoemaker of stealing his concepts and restricting his creative control.
Meanwhile fashion house Balenciaga has become one of the latest to part ways with the rapper adding more weight for other brand collaborators to follow suit.
On Thursday, Kering, the parent company of the French fashion house, responded to a query from Women's Wear Daily about Balenciaga's relationship with Ye. The brand issued the following statement.
"Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist," the statement read, according to WWD.
But West is looking to secure his interests and has reportedly lawyered up – hiring Camille Vasquez, the lawyer who defended Johnny Depp.
According to TMZ Vasquez will be among the lawyers at the Brown Rudnick firm now working with West.
