There's nothing better than a sunny Friday to kick off the weekend.
And that is what the Met Office has predicted for the North East on July 8, with the sunshine bringing highs of 21 °C in areas including Newcastle. After a bright and warm start to the day, the afternoon will be a mix of sun and cloud, before turning sunny again in the evening.
A Met Office spokesman said: "A cloudier day than Thursday, with the risk of some slight rain in the west. Brighter in the east, with sunny spells possible during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 21 °C."
