There's something incredibly special about Swansea beach. The gentle rolling waves, the golden sands and the pitter-patter of people playing cricket, rounders and volleyball throughout the day and into the evening will always have a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors. And this summer there will be another free activity for people to sink their teeth into - weekly sunset yoga.
The Secret Beach Bar and Kitchen, located on the promenade along Mumbles Road, has teamed up with online fitness firm YBL (Your Best Life) to host weekly sunset yoga sessions on the beach. Launching this Monday, June 5 the 30-minute sessions will be suitable to people of all abilities and will run for eight weeks, with each session showcasing "flow-style" yoga, focusing on "movement, balance, a little bit of strength work and finishing off with relaxation".
In an announcement on social media, staff at The Secret wrote: "Free yoga on the beach this summer. We have partnered with the incredible YBL. Your Best Life who will be hosting a weekly sunset yoga session this summer on the beach, outside our venue The Secret for the public and our team members. We're inviting you to attend!

Sharing further details, founders and directors of The Secret Hospitality Group, Ryan and Lucy Hole explained: "We are running free yoga sessions across eight weeks this summer, in collaboration with Alecs Donovan at YBL (Your Best Life). This will take place on the beach outside our venue The Secret. The first session is on Monday, June 5 at 6.30pm. It is free to attend, you just need to bring your own mat. Everyone is to meet outside our kiosk."
"Our mission is to promote staff wellness, as we focus on creating a good working environment within The Secret Hospitality Group," the pair added. "We're coming into a busy time and we want to ensure that our staff are maintaining that balance. Hospitality can be quite unforgiving with long, unsociable hours so we're looking to balance that out. We've also opened this up to the public so that anyone can join and benefit from this. We want to encourage others to put their mind first."
Alecs from YBL added: "We put a different spin on yoga. We don't take ourselves too seriously, we don't take life too seriously and we don't put pressure on ourselves. In this session we will take you through a 30-minute yoga session - Slow Flow; to show you the benefit movement can have on the mind and body. How movement can improve your physical and mental well-being. Self-love, Self-care and time to breathe. On the days you don't know what to choose: choose your mental health!"
The yoga sessions will be taking place on Swansea beach on Monday evenings at 6.30pm from June 5 to July 24. If you'd like to join-in, meet by The Secret Kiosk just before the session begins.
