Former petrol station to be converted into retail space

A former petrol station and car hire site has been acquired to be converted into new retail space which will create 30 jobs.

The one-acre plot in Thorns Road, Brierley Hill, previously housed the Lyehyre fuel forecourt and vehicle hire company but the site has been vacant for a number of years.

Cradley Heath outfit Stewardson Developments acquired it in an off-market deal and is now working with agency Hexagon Commercial Property to find operators interested in leasing the site.

Director Mark Stewardson said: "This site is in a great location with plenty of potential. Our plan will see the site vastly improved to attract new tenants and create new jobs in the local community."

His brother Phil added: "We know this site very well and when we were introduced to the opportunity, we knew we could create a dynamic retail proposal. We are actively seeking more sites like this for future investment."

Harvey Pearson, director at Hexagon Commercial Property who advised Stewardson Developments on the purchase, added: "It has been a pleasure to put this deal together - both for the vendor and our clients who purchased the site.

"As a local, it is nice to know we have played a major role in significant local investment despite there being perceived market instability."
