FORFAR ATHLETIC boss Gary Irvine has revealed that Leigh Griffiths won't be joining his side this summer.
However, the Loons boss did admit he strongly considered making an offer to the ex-Celtic hitman.
The one-time Scotland internationalist is a free agent after leaving Falkirk at the end of last season.
He has yet to find a club, but did recently state he'd be interested in a move down south or abroad in order to reignite his career.
Griff was pictured alongside Irvine and Forfar first team coach Gary Harkins last week.
Speaking to the Courier, Irvine says no deal will be offered - with Griffiths too good for League Two anyway.
He said: "We gave it a thought but that was a good few weeks down the line.
"Since then, I’ve moved on and got my attacking options in now. That won’t be happening.
"Sparky is a good friend of myself and Jeebs (Harkins).
"He is a top player, just a couple of years ago he was still one of the main strikers in Scotland.
"If Leigh gets himself back to fitness he is probably above our level, if I’m honest.
