The Friday night of Sefton Park's Oktoberfest was cancelled after an "unsafe" amount of rain fell.
The organisers of the huge event took to Instagram to tell people hoping to visit on Friday, September 30, they were told to cancel following a visit from Environmental Health. The council department told the organisers they needed to cancel the event after a "relentless" amount of rain fell in the area today making the site "unsafe", a move organisers said they agreed with.
The team said they hoped the rest of the event would go ahead on Saturday and Sunday.

In a video posted to Instagram, one of the organisers said: "With regret we're going to have to cancel tonight's show. Environmental health have just been in, and as you have seen today the weather has just been absolutely relentless. We agree with Environmental Health to be honest with the amount of rain that has fell, it just made the site unsafe.
"But by all means use your tickets, come tomorrow day, tomorrow night, Sunday day or Sunday night sessions. If that doesn't work for you, get a refund.
"The rest of the weekend's weather is an absolute blinder, so hopefully we can do that for you all. I'm sorry guys."
